Question 1: Which statement best describes the purpose of the Program Backlog in SAFe? (choose the best answer)
A. It tracks the day-to-day progress of Developers and Scrum Masters
B. It includes all completed Stories from the last Program Increment
C. It lists technical tasks and defects owned by the System Architect
D. It holds the team’s current Iteration Goals and accepted Stories
E. It contains a prioritized list of Features that drive the Agile Release Train
Check answer

Correct answer: E. The Program Backlog (called the ART Backlog in SAFe 6) is managed by Product Management. It holds the prioritized Features and Enablers for the Agile Release Train and is the main input to PI Planning. Stories and Iteration Goals live in the Team Backlog.

Question 2: Which practice helps maintain alignment across multiple Agile teams during PI execution? (choose the best answer)
A. Using System Demos to review integrated progress
B. Allowing each team to define their own independent backlog
C. Conducting team retrospectives in isolation from the ART
D. Skipping Iteration Reviews to focus on delivery
E. Daily syncs between Product Owners and Scrum Masters
Check answer

Correct answer: A. The System Demo shows the integrated work of all teams on the ART after each Iteration. It gives stakeholders a shared view of progress toward the PI Objectives and fast feedback. Daily syncs help coordination but do not show integrated progress.

Question 3: What is one benefit of organizing teams around value streams in SAFe? (choose the best answer)
A. It enables centralized decision-making and governance
B. It enhances agility by aligning teams to the flow of value
C. It supports rigid organizational hierarchies for better control
D. It reduces the need for cross-functional collaboration
E. It increases dependency on component teams
Check answer

Correct answer: B. Organizing around value streams aligns long-lived, cross-functional teams to the flow of value, which cuts handoffs and delays. The other options describe the hierarchy and silos SAFe tries to remove.

Question 4: What is the primary responsibility of the Product Owner during Iteration Execution? (choose the best answer)
A. Defining Features and assigning them to teams
B. Authorizing release of Features across the ART
C. Managing cross-team dependencies at the ART level
D. Ensuring the team delivers value by maintaining the Team Backlog
E. Creating the Vision and Roadmap for the upcoming PI
Check answer

Correct answer: D. During the Iteration the Product Owner keeps the Team Backlog refined and ordered, answers questions and accepts Stories. Features, Vision and Roadmap belong to Product Management, and ART-level dependencies to the RTE.

Question 5: What is the main purpose of PI Objectives in SAFe? (choose the best answer)
A. To replace Features in the Program Backlog
B. To track the status of each Story during the PI
C. To provide a fixed scope for the PI
D. To assign work to individual team members
E. To communicate business intent and align teams toward common outcomes
Check answer

Correct answer: E. PI Objectives summarize, in business terms, what each team plans to deliver in the PI. Business Owners assign them business value, which aligns the ART on outcomes rather than a fixed scope or task list.

Question 6: What is the main value of Backlog Refinement? (choose the best answer)
A. Team commits to a set of goals to be delivered in the Iteration
B. Team reviews and improves its process before the next Iteration
C. Team prepares requirements for Iteration Planning
D. Team meets with stakeholders to review the deliverables and provide feedback
Check answer

Correct answer: C. Refinement gets backlog items ready for Iteration Planning: clarified, split and given acceptance criteria. Committing to goals happens in Iteration Planning, reviewing deliverables in the Iteration Review, and process improvement in the Retrospective.

Question 7: What is one of the key purposes of the Inspect and Adapt event in SAFe? (choose the best answer)
A. To review the Product Roadmap and update future Epics
B. To assess team capacity and reassign work across the ART
C. To plan the next Program Increment with adjusted scope
D. To demonstrate and evaluate the current state of the solution
E. To assign Features to teams for the next Iteration
Check answer

Correct answer: D. Inspect and Adapt starts with a PI System Demo of the current solution, followed by a quantitative and qualitative measurement and a problem-solving workshop. Planning the next PI happens in PI Planning.

Question 8: Which SAFe Core Value is demonstrated when you avoid asking teams to commit to their PI Objectives while they are sleep-deprived? (choose the best answer)
A. Respect for people and culture
B. Relentless Improvement
C. Transparency
D. Alignment
Check answer

Correct answer: A. Making sure people commit with a clear head and at a sustainable pace is Respect for people and culture. The other core values are about improvement, visibility and shared direction, not the wellbeing of the people making the commitment.

Question 9: What is one benefit of assigning Business Value to PI Objectives during PI Planning? (choose the best answer)
A. It enables architects to reassign Features during execution
B. It replaces the need for iteration-level planning
C. It eliminates the need for backlog refinement
D. It helps prioritize Stories within the Team Backlog
E. It provides a quantitative measure of alignment to business goals
Check answer

Correct answer: E. Business Owners score each PI Objective for business value. The score shows how well the plan matches business priorities and is later used to measure how much planned value was delivered.

Question 10: What is one goal of the Iteration Review? (choose the best answer)
A. To demonstrate completed Stories from the prior PI
B. To identify dependencies in the backlog
C. To receive feedback on the increment
D. To add acceptance criteria to Stories in the Iteration
Check answer

Correct answer: C. The Iteration Review is where the team shows the work done in the current Iteration and gets feedback on the increment. Dependencies are found in PI Planning and refinement, and acceptance criteria are set before work starts.

SAFe POPM FAQ

Is POPM one certification or two?

One. POPM covers both the Product Owner and Product Manager roles in a single exam.

Do I have to take the course?

Yes. Scaled Agile only gives exam access to people who attend the matching course, and the first attempt is included in the course fee if you take it within 60 days.

How is POPM different from PSPO I?

PSPO I tests the Product Owner in Scrum. POPM tests Product Owners and Product Managers inside SAFe, including PI Planning and the ART backlog.

Does this cover the new AI-Empowered exam?

Yes. Scaled Agile added AI topics to the exam in 2026, about 12% to 14% of the questions, and our bank includes them.

Does POPM expire?

Yes. SAFe certifications are renewed every year through Scaled Agile.

Are these real exam questions or dumps?

Neither. Scaled Agile’s real questions are confidential, and using dumps breaks its exam rules and can cost you the certification. These are original questions written to the same format and topics, each with an in-depth explanation.

What if I don’t pass?
